"Who
needs another matchmaking site?"
The Internet may have made it easy for people
to expand their personal networks and connect with people we would not
have met otherwise. There may
exist numerous online dating, matrimonial, and social-networking sites.
Many people may have indeed found successful matches online. Yet, talk
to most people at matchmaking sites and you will likely hear
considerable dissatisfaction with the existing options.
"Finding people who have the same end
goal and time frame
is hard on current sites."
"A great site would let you get to
know someone ...
not just list their bio data and their hobbies & interests!"
"It takes a lot of time to find good
matches."
What makes the process of finding a
compatible match more complicated today, whether online or offline, is the major societal transformation that has
been happening over the last generation.
Young men and women are more independent and
have greater say in whom and when they marry. They must also contend
with changing gender roles and expectations. More married couples are
dual-income couples who face stressful lifestyles. Families are
increasingly nuclear, such that the support system for married couples
is weaker. And unfortunately, more marriages are falling apart because
of incompatible value systems and personalities.
